Fossacesia combines the charm of a hilltop village overlooking the Adriatic with the lively atmosphere of the marina, directly on the Costa dei Trabocchi. From here you can easily reach the cycle route, the trabocchi-restaurants, the pebble beaches and the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere, one of the most scenic places in Abruzzo.

Located on a panoramic promontory, the abbey overlooks the coast with a spectacular view of the Costa dei Trabocchi. The Romanesque monastic complex is surrounded by olive groves and a garden facing directly toward the sea.
The seaside area is the heart of the coastline: pebble beaches, beach clubs, bars and restaurants overlooking the cycle route. It is an excellent starting point for cycling north (San Vito Marina) or south (Torino di Sangro).
Trabocchi are ancient wooden fishing machines, suspended over the water and connected to the coast by narrow walkways. Many are now restaurants or locations for aperitifs, offering seafood menus and local products.

Fossacesia Marina is one of the most popular stretches of the Costa dei Trabocchi. The coastline is mostly made of pebbles, with clear water and several beach clubs, bars and restaurants. The Adriatic Cycle Route runs parallel to the sea, making it easy to move along the coast without using the car.
The beaches are mainly pebbly, with some concrete platforms and access points to the water. The sea is generally clean and transparent, especially on calm days.
The cycle route runs along the entire seafront and connects Fossacesia Marina with San Vito Marina to the north and Torino di Sangro to the south.
Fossacesia Marina offers many restaurants, both on the seafront and on the trabocchi. Seafood cuisine is the highlight, with traditional Abruzzese dishes and fresh fish.
Parking is available along the seafront and in designated areas near the beach clubs. In high season, it is advisable to arrive early.

One of the wildest and most scenic beaches of the Abruzzo coast.
Punta Penna is located a few kilometres south of Fossacesia and is part of the Punta Aderci Nature Reserve. It is a wide, unspoilt beach with golden sand, dunes and crystal‑clear water. The landscape is completely natural, with no beach clubs or major services.
Access is via a short path from the parking area. In summer, the car park may fill up quickly.
Punta Penna is perfect for those seeking a wild and quiet environment. There are no beach clubs, so bring water, food and sun protection.

The coastal path is one of the most enjoyable ways to explore the Costa dei Trabocchi. It follows the old railway line and alternates between paved sections, wooden walkways and gravel stretches. From Fossacesia Marina you can walk both north and south, stopping at beaches, viewpoints and trabocchi.
This is the most iconic stretch, with several trabocchi and panoramic points overlooking the sea.
