Day‑by‑day itinerary

Day 1 — Campo Imperatore → Duca degli Abruzzi Hut

Start: 2130 m Arrival: 2388 m Duration: ~3h Elevation gain: +260 m

  • Key points: Observatory, plateau, view of Corno Grande.
  • Overnight: Duca degli Abruzzi Hut.

Day 2 — Duca degli Abruzzi → Corno Grande → Garibaldi Hut

Summit: 2912 m Duration: ~6–7h Elevation: +600 / -800 m Level: EE

  • Key points: Sella di Monte Aquila, Calderone glacier view, ridges.
  • Overnight: Garibaldi Hut (2230 m).

Day 3 — Garibaldi → Campo Imperatore → Rocca Calascio → Santo Stefano

Duration: ~7–8h Elevation loss: -1000 m Terrain: dirt roads + trails

  • Key points: Rocca Calascio Castle, village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio.
  • Overnight: Albergo diffuso in Santo Stefano or B&B in Rocca Calascio.
